Nicole and Josiah’s Christmas and New Years holidays in Jamaica

“Around-Jamaica-in-Eight-Days”

Itinerary:

Nicole would have been satisfied just hanging out on the beach in an “All-inclusive” place in Montego Bay or Negril. Josiah’s sister, on the other hand, wanted to experience the real Jamaica, like his sister. She was a Peace Corp Volunteer in Jamaica and had regaled him with stories of Jamaica. The couple partnered with Otaheti Travel to curated their, “Around-Jamaica-in-Eight-Days” Christmas Holiday vacation trip.

Day 1: Arrive in Montego Bay

Nicole and Josiah arrived in Montego Bay on Christmas Day from New York. Patrick, their driver and guide, met them at the airport with “Otaheti fresheners” and drove them to Hillside Villa, secluded on a hill with a dramatic view of Montego Bay, and a short scenic drive away from the airport. After settling in, Patrick drove them back to town for lunch at a local jerk place. The spicy jerk chicken, festival and rum punch more than hit the spot. It was clear, they were no longer in New York. To burn of some calories they joined a walking tour of Montego Bay. Otaheti had arranged for an art gallery tour, after lunch. As the sun slowly dipped in the west, Josiah and Nicole were ready for dinner. Pachies in Sandy Bay, it was the perfect place for soaking up the rest of the setting sun and to feel the gentle tropical sea breeze. The fresh fish, literally just out of the sea, was cooked to perfection, a-la-chef’s table: full of flavors…delectable. No rush> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSB3XKBCwCI

Day 2:  Montego Bay to Negril

Thursday, Boxing day, a holiday in Jamaica. All was quiet. They set off for Negril, southwest from Montego Bay. After almost two hours on the road, they checked into The Cliff Hotel. Refreshed and relaxed and ready to stretch their legs, the duo headed for Seven Mile Beach, voted on of the best beaches in the Caribbean. The next day they were off to Treasure Beach on the Southwest Coast.

Day 3 - 5: The Southwest Coast, St. Elizabeth

Nicole and Josiah stayed at Jakes, a hip, laid back boutique hotel, a Treasure Beach jem.

Things to do:

•      Own the beach (you will literally have it by yourself)

•       Chill at the bar (standard ritual during their stay).

•       Get a massage

Day 6: Port Antonio, Portland

Drive to  San San, Portland Arrive the Trident hotel.

  • Walking Tour of Port Antonio

  • Rafting on the Blue Lagoon

  • Visit Boston for the best Jerk in Jamaica

Day 6 - 7: Oracabessa

After a delightful stay in Port Antonio, sadly, is was time to leave. They headed west towards Montego Bay, stopping at Oracabessa.

They stayed at the iconic Golden Eye

The mission was to spend New Years Eve in Montego Bay. Yet, they were in no rush. The drive along the turquoise-azure blue Caribbean was intoxicating. They were slowly chasing the sun. What a way to watch the old year come to a close.

Day 8 : Montego Bay

New Years Day! The “Circle the Island Trip” curated by Otaheti Travel, was beyond their expectation. Josiah now could put names , images, smells, people to the places this sister spoke about. He saw how diverse the country was. It was more than a beach. Nicole had bragging rights. She had seen more of Jamaica than her Jamaican friends. They raised their glasses: Happy New Year, in Montego Bay!

  • Pier 1 for Lunch

Get ready to fly back to New York.
